Murder Capital Gangsta'z
MCG'z, which stands for Murder Capitol Gangstaz, is a legendary gangsta rap group from Gary, IN aka The Murder Capital. The trio consists of Hit, Mista Lo & Daz Devil. They all come from the infamous Invanohe Gardens, a crime ridden housing project officially closed off in 1965 but still inhabited in the 90's & later and which had the reputation of being one of the most dangerous places in the U.S. All of three were also gang-affiliated as they claim it in the song "Great Lakes" (Young Niggas That's Killas in the mind state/2 Disciples and 1 4CH/be the reason for increasing crime rates)...
MCG'z released their debut album in 1997, the tape "Last Dayz", which is ultra rare & hard to find. The same year, they got their first break when they were featured on the Midwest Gatekeepers "North/South G.I. Compilation", as many artists from the city (CCA, Outside, P.U.G.G., Lil Pat, N-4-Red...).
In 2000, MCG'z released their first full length album, entitled "53 Chambers Of Danger". It's a Midwest classic & one of the best releases from G.I., period. Must have... It contains the timeless anthem "Great Lakes" and many other great tracks ("D-Game", "Cheifin Riefa", a different version of "Dollaz & Sense" than the one on the MW Gatekeepers compilation, "Talk Is Cheap"...).
Then MCG'z released "Da Slumpin EP" (2002) & "Second Comin'" (2005), which are both very good. They also appeared on several local albums & compilations, including the classic "Midwest Thug Niggaz" of CCA.
If Hit, who relocated in Indianapolis, IN, pursued a productive solo career since the early 2000's, Mista Lo vanished as Daz Devil beside a few features...
