Legendary Bay Area gangsta rap group from East Palo Alto, CA, once the murder cap of the U.S. in 1992, when the group started to gain recognition.
Original members were rappers Ad Kapone, Mac-10 (aka Ten Dolla), MC Silk & Zero Lark and producer T.C. They formed the group in the late 80's. Zero Lark & MC Silk soon quit the team and they were replaced later by Scoot Dogg.
Totally Insane recorded an album, entitled "Crazy Shit" but it was never released due to the killing of neighborhood kingpin Michael D. Washington, who was the man who provided the funds.
The group recorded a new project and eventually released independently its official debut album, "Direct From The Backstreet" (1991) before signing a deal with In-A-Minute Records, which rereleased it in 1992.
Then Totally Insane put out 2 other albums under In-A-Minute Records, "Goin Insane" (1993) and "Back Street Life" (1995). Both releases are regarded as Bay Area classics.
After the ending of their contract, Totally Insane dropped 2 other albums, the self-titled "Totally Insane (1998) and "Da Game Of Life" (2001).
They appeared on several albums and compilations in the 90's and early 2000's and collaborated with Bay Area/Northern California rap acts such as RBL Posse, I.M.P., Dre Dog, 11/5, 2-11, Mr. Sandman or Skanless. Ad Kapone also dropped some solo material.
